Hello everybody. Welcome to my site. My name is Ricky Hernández, and I am a musician,
composer, writer, and producer. As I go on, I will elaborate more on these titles. I
arrived in Los Angeles (actually Burbank) on March 30, 2000, two days after my birthday.
I moved here from San Antonio, TX. My move was motivated by the desire to, like the tens
of thousands here already, follow my dreams and make them a reality.
I grew up inspired by all facets of the entertainment industry. Hence, my creative spirit
has given birth to a variety of projects. When the feeling comes, you can't stop it. You
have to go with the moment and put it down. So through the years, I have compiled various
ideas which have become "projects in development."
Recently, I released a collection of traditional
Mexican semi-classical pieces, entitled Recuerdos.
The songs were composed by my grandfather, Cenobio Hernández.
(His story can be found in the RAH RECORDS
section of the site.) The Recuerdos
project was a labor of love, twenty years in the making. I
produced and played the session, in the process, creating
my own record company, RAH RECORDS.
Along with promoting the CD, I am currently working on a volume
two with twelve additional songs from my grandfather's collection.
While working on the CD, it was suggested to me that I open
my own web site to better promote myself, the CD and other
projects.
A year ago I approached a singer (Ron Green, a local L.A. musician) about collaborating on
writing songs to record for ourselves and publish and promote to other artists. The songs
are a mixture of our R&B roots and my Latin and rock influences. I hope to release them on
the RAH label. I am also working on developing a female vocalist for recording on the label.
I have registered a TV sitcom script that
I began working on a year and a half ago. I have the first
draft pilot written along with treatments for the follow up
episodes. My partner Amy Morgan and I are getting this ready
along with a couple of other TV ideas for a package pitch.
There are three musicals that are on the shelf at this time. In the mid eighties, a playwright
from San Antonio and I wrote a story that we developed into a musical. It is a Pinocchio
meets Bertol Brecht and Kurt Weill kind of thing. The whole first draft was written in 1987,
but I have found the idea to still be relevant today. The second idea was inspired by a trip
I took to Mexico in late 1978. Although the seed was written down in 1979, I didn't begin
writing the story, which is a love story centered around the Mexican Revolution, until 1994.
The third idea is a country musical, inspired by ride to the ocean through the Santa Monica
Mountains.
So this is what I am about. Obviously, all this
can't be done at once. There are priorities in my schedule,
and some things will surface to be worked on at different
times. I will be performing for different functions and I
would love to invite you out. If you would drop your email
address, I will send out information as it comes in. You can
email me at ricky@rickyhernandezonline.com.
For business contacts, drop me a line and I will respond ASAP.
Thanks again for logging on and hope to see you at a function soon,
Peace and God Bless,
Ricky
